Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, on Sunday stopped his convoy twice to assist victims of two separate road accidents that occurred while he was returning from a tour of the Funtua Zone.
The first accident happened in Matazu town, where a commercial Golf car carrying several passengers crashed. Four people died on the spot, while ten others were injured. The governor halted his convoy, supervised the evacuation, and directed medical teams to stabilise the victims before further support arrived.
“No leader should drive past such a tragedy,” he said at the scene. “These victims are our brothers and sisters. My heart is with the families of the deceased.”
Minutes later, the governor encountered another accident on the Kafinsoli–Koda Road and again stopped to assist. His motorcade deployed vehicles to convey the injured to a hospital in Charanchi.
Radda also condoled with the Deputy Governor’s convoy, which was involved in a separate crash on the Kaduna–Zaria Road, leaving six people injured.
He prayed for the repose of the dead and quick recovery of the injured, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening emergency response systems.
